So a while back I attempted to make chicken cordon bleu. Those who were there can attest to the fact that it would not be something they would want to eat again...
I don't blame them... I blame myself slash the recipe.
I love chicken cordon bleu though, and was unsure of trying to make it again. So I found this recipe and figured it was a fool proof way of creating almost the same thing.
Here is what you will need:
2 cups of chopped chicken, 3 pieces of bacon, 6 slices of ham, half a pint of whipping cream, 10oz of penne pasta, 8oz block of cream cheese, 2 cups swiss cheese, 1/2 tsp of onion powder, 1/4 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp of garlic powder, and bread crumbs.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Get your pasta cooking. While it is cooking we will start on the sauce.
Get your cream cheese
And melt it down in a saucepan
Cutting it up into chunks helps.
Once it is melted- add in the whipping cream.
You know my favorite thing about cooking on the weekends?
I have my favorite helper in the kitchen with me!
(go spurs)
Once that is combined add your garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
Stir it in and then add one cup of your cheese.
Side note- You can use shredded swiss cheese. I am making chicken later this week that uses sliced swiss cheese so I decided to kill two birds with one stone and just rip up the slices!
Stir it until it is creamy and well combined.
Turn down the heat to keep it warm.
Start on your bacon. Hopefully your pasta is almost done by now.
Once the bacon is done, cut it into pieces.
Once your pasta is done, drain and then put on a 9x13 baking dish.
Then layer the chicken, ham, and bacon on top.
Then add your sauce, bread crumbs, and another cup of cheese on top.
Put it in the oven for about 15 minutes or until it is warm all the way through and the cheese is nice and melty.
Enjoy!
